I don't want to get in a semantic argument with you. But perhaps my meaning would have been more clear if I'd written: "Everyone who lives in San Francisco has been tainted by this institutional child abuse."

You call them monsters, I call them pigs.

Meanwhile, the CDC quietly lowered the developmental milestones, which will adversely affect many kids. If your child can barely speak or read it's ok now, so no assistance for you! It was as cowardly a move as I have ever seen.

I'll just add what I consider to be the most monstrous hypocrisy of all, which was to keep public schools closed while sending their own children to fully in-person private schools.

Right on, brother. Tell it like it is. Time for c19 tribunals.

I have an office in SF but since March 2020 I’ve only gone in a handful of times, since it gives me the creeps. Something has happened to the people in what used to be my favorite city. When the outdoor mask mandate was in place it looked like there was 99.9% compliance. A young man screamed at me on the street for not wearing mine. A friend told me she was spit at for not wearing hers.

I never would have predicted that the inhabitants of that city would become so insane due to something like Covid. Prior to Covid the people seemed peaceful and open minded. No longer.

Now it feels like how I imagine Jonestown would have felt. Covidtown. I think a decent portion of San Franciscans would drink the Kool Aid if they were told it was an important Covid protocol

Agree. Well said.

I agree it is creepy but not surprising. Think about its long-standing status as a sanctuary city: not only were politicians publicly flouting law enforcement they actively courted lawbreakers. When a young woman was killed by an illegal alien there was no outcry, but half the city would take to the streets to protest a man who made an off-color remark about gold diggers. These are people who will re-elect a geriatric representative who got her hair done while all business were closed, vote against recalling a governor who at at a $900 per plate restaurant while all others were shut down, and voted for a district attorney in a crime-infested city who was soft on crime (while probably supporting a vice presidential candidate who incarcerated more people of color as Attorney General than any other). Collaborators are always shocked when tyrants eventually turn on them.

There was always a kookie element to the city’s politics, which I found somewhat endearing pre-Covid. I was just surprised that the people became so mean

When they elected Chesa Boudin as DA I realized the kookiness was actually becoming dangerous, and that people would get hurt. I took it as a small ray of hope when Chesa was successfully recalled. At some point insane progressive fantasies run up against cold hard reality in a way that can’t be ignored

What are the city's playgrounds and parks like now? Are people visiting them like the old days, or are many still avoiding them because of the virus? I imagine the covid signs are still up, except for a few that have been removed by individuals. In Seattle there are still some covid signs at parks and playgrounds.
